Brief Description:

 This one unit-class is designed to help all students specially elementary algebra students to learn and practice more with word problems. Topics included but not limited to the following:

 

Student Learning Objectives:

  1. Master concepts, content, and skills to be successful in subsequent mathematical studies.

  2. Develop the ability to reason analytically, deductively, logically, and critically.

  3. Understand and apply mathematical modeling.

  4. Develop greater confidence in their mathematical abilities.

  5. Gain an appreciation for the purpose and usefulness of mathematics.

Prerequisite:

Acceptable level of skill demonstrated in the Mathematics Placement Process.

Required Materials: 1) Textbook: See provided notes below.

2) Calculator: any scientific calculator
